In maths recently we have been exploring multiplication and division, with a focus on the 3, 4 and 8 x table (following on from 2, 5 and 10 in year 1 and 2).


This week we are taking a look at 'related calculations', using what we do know to work out things that we don't know but are related.

For example, at the moment trying to solve 3x 20 may seem too hard, as we haven't learnt that yet. However we could use 3x2 (which we do now how to solve) , to help us, as you can see below.

So by using what we know about multiplying by ones, we can use this to work out multiplying by tens. Have a go continuing with the powerpoint slides to try a few more questions (the first 2 are the above examples), then your usual maths challenges can be found below.
