Dr Walker's Church of England Primary School

An Exceptional Place to Flourish

Week Beginning 5th January 2021

Hello lovely Caterpillars and Family,

Happy New Year! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! I can't wait to hear all about it when we are back at school. As your grownups have probably told you we currently cannot come into school at the moment due to the virus. But do not worry we will be back altogether soon, I know Martha is really missing you too. While you are at home I will be setting a few activities to keep you busy. You can also continue to access reading books via Phonics Bug.

I will be making a quick phone call to all of you on Thursday this week just to have a quick chat, see how you are and answer any questions. Members of staff will also be calling weekly. Please note these calls may appear as an unknown number. Please send all of your wonderful work to our new class email caterpillars@fyfielddrwalkers.essex.sch.uk this will be monitored daily. I will display all work on our class page so you can see what your friends have been up to.

Parents if you do have any questions please do email and I will respond as soon as I can.

Please check back regularly and scroll down for new updates and I look forward to seeing you all again really soon.  Keep safe everyone.

Take care,

Miss Tierney smiley

RE

This week in RE we are looking at people who help us. Have a quick think who helps you? I know your Mummy, Daddy, Grandparents and siblings may help you sometimes. There are also lots of other people who help us when we need help such as doctors when we are poorly; Fire fighters to help put out fires; I as your Teacher help you learn new things; Dentists help look after your teeth; the police help us if we need them. As you can see there are so many people who help us. Have a go at this worksheet below.

Watch this video to find out a little bit about Firefighters.

Being thankful is something we do all around the world. 2020 has been a very different year for everyone and we have a lot to be thankful for last year.

Watch and reflect on this video of different thank you quotes. Can you thank your Mummy, Daddy or Grandparents for something they have done for you recently?

Ask a Grownup to read this Bible Story to you.

Bible story The Song of the Sea – Exodus 15:1-19 After Moses and the Israelites fled Egypt, they were pursued by the Egyptian army. They were chased to the Red Sea with no way of escape because of the enemy behind them and the sea in front of them. God miraculously parted the sea and made a way for the Children of Israel to pass through on dry ground. The army of Egypt followed them into the sea. When the Israelites passed safely over to the other side, God released the waters which He held back for the Israelites and drowned Pharaoh’s army.

Exodus 15 is a chapter dedicated to praising God for this miraculous deliverance from the enemy. Moses, and Israel, were careful to give God thanks for his protection. Do you know any other bible stories that show thanks? What have you been thankful for this week?
