An Exceptional Place to Flourish

Science

Today we are looking at what a habitat is. The Dictionary defines a habitat as:

'The natural home or environment of an animal, plant, or other organism.'

The power point below goes into more detail about habitats and the last slide gives you some ideas of why a fox and a frog may choose their habitat.

Year 1

Have a look at the power point below and then pick 1 of the animals below, can you draw their habitat for me and label some of the features.

Year 2

Once you have had a read of the power point can you pick two of the animals below and write some information about their habitat and why they might have chosen it.

If you don't want to pick an animal that is below you can pick your own animal.

Extra work (But fun)

Can you make a habitat for an animal you might find in your garden?

I've added a link for a bug hotel to give you some idea, although it does not need to be a bug hotel and if you make it out of things you find in the garden or out on a walk even better.
