An Exceptional Place to Flourish

What is light and where does it come from?

In this lesson, we are going to be learning about light. We are going to learn about what light is, where it comes from and how shadows are formed. We are going to complete an investigation into how light behaves with transparent, translucent and opaque objects. You will need a piece of paper and a pencil for this lesson. If you would like to take part in the practical investigation you will need: a light source (e.g. lamp, torch or phone light), a piece of paper, a piece of cardboard and a piece of something transparent (e.g. clear plastic). If you do not have these items you can still complete the lesson by watching the teacher’s demonstration.

Understanding Absorption of Light - Why do we see different colors?

Parents - Two of these activities require the children to use coloured filters over a torch. Plastic chocolate wrappers, like Quality Street are perfect for this activity. If you don't any resources to complete this activity please don't worry.
