Dr Walker's Church of England Primary School

An Exceptional Place to Flourish

Good Morning!

This week is Children’s Mental Health Week (1st-7th February 2021). This year's theme is Express Yourself.

Self-expression is about communicating your individuality. This can be through words, clothing and hairstyle, or through art forms such as writing, drawing, music and dance.

Sometimes our grown-ups help us get ready in the mornings. On Friday I challenge you to get yourself dressed. Choose your own clothes and hair style! Don't forget to tweet pictures to our school twitter!

The winning house from last week was......drum roll please...... Vikings! Well done Vikings! Remember to send over your learning to to earn lots of house points!

How many legs does a ladybird have?

How many spots? Do you know any other creatures with 6 legs?

Use counters to add 6 spots to the other ladybirds.

Can you find more than one way to do it?

How many colours do you see in the rainbow?

Can you paint a rainbow with 7 colours?

Can you make rainbows using objects around your house?

How many colours did you use?

Today I would like you to have a go at this early reading activity. Use the sound buttons to help you read each sentence.

Poking Pasta

Collect items around the house that have holes in them a colander is perfect, you can also use a basket and some threading beads.

Using long pasta push it through the holes you find.

We would like all pupils to make a drawing on one of the following topics:

  • “I like my school.”
  • Nature (e.g. flowers, animals, rainbow, etc.)
  • What makes me happy and smile?
  • Things I like to learn about (e.g. the 50 experiences in school).
  • Living in the UK (e.g. buses, trains, Churches, Big Ben, London landmarks, etc.).
  • School values
  • British Values

You can use colouring in pencils, felt tip pens or paint! I know you will draw some fabulous pictures as we're such a creative class!

Please use the document below for your entry!

Please send in your entry to our class email

Writing Challenge

Choose a picture. Talk about it together. Ask your child to label parts of the picture, write a simple caption (e.g. a pet cat) or one or more simple sentences about it (e.g. The cat has a blue eye.)

Today's Prayer

Heavenly Father, help me through all of my days.  Teach me not to worry.  Remind me to not be anxious. As it says in Philippians ‘Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.’  I am making my requests known to you right now. I need help.  I need you. I thank you. Amen
