An Exceptional Place to Flourish

Learning Quest

In Monday's Learning Quest we learnt about what Britain was like when the Roman's invaded. In this lesson you would have seen and learnt about hill forts. These were a common settlement (an area where the Celts would have lived in England at the time), designed to protect their tribe from attackers.  Below is a picture of one that has been discovered, and below that is a drawing of how it may have looked when it was still being lived in by the Celts.

For today's activity I'd like you to try and build your own hill fort. You can choose the materials you like. You could simply use lego, or you could use an upside-down paper plate to make your hill. Things to think about:
- you will need to get the shape of a hill

- the the top of the hill has a high fence surrounding it, to protect the people inside.

-inside the fence would be some houses.

How you make it is up to you. I really look forward to seeing what some of you come up with!

Below is a hill fort that was made by a historian. I don't expect yours to be quite that good, but it may help for some ideas.
