Happy Monday Badgers!

I hope you've all been enjoying the beautiful weather we've been having. I've spent lots of time playing in the garden with my children and going for long walks.

Remember to share what you've been up to by tweeting (@drwalker_s) or emailing me ( so I can add them to our class celebrations.

I'm missing you all lots and can't wait to see you again, but until then,

stay home - stay safe - stay smiling smiley

Explore this question – why do small objects, like a 5p coin sink, but a huge ship floats?

Carry out research and / or conduct your own scientific experiment to find out why this might be.

I can't wait to see how you get on with this investigation!

Use the internet to help research the following:

  • Someone who was on board Titanic – passenger or crew member. Thomas Andrews and Molly Brown are really interesting people to find out about.
  • What did the rooms look like inside the Titanic – Captain’s quarters, accommodation, dining hall, etc.
  • What it was like in New York in 1912

This research will help you with a range of activities that have been set this week.

Create a portrait of the person you have researched. You can use any medium that you lie to create their portrait – pencils, paint, pens, etc.

Design and Technology

Using an old box (cereal boxes are perfect for this activity!) recreate a model of a room from on board the Titanic. You could show what the accommodation was like in 1st class, 3rd class or even the engine room. Ask someone to take pictures as you make it, as well as your final piece of work, so you can add them to your scrapbook.

Research someone of your choice from on board the Titanic. Use this research to help you with your English task of writing a biography about them.

Create a travel brochure about New York for a passenger travelling on the Titanic. This would have been a huge adventure for many passengers so make sure your travel brochure is exciting. You can include activities to do, things to see, places to eat, etc. Don’t forget some pictures of famous landmarks too, like the Statue of Liberty.

Listen to the music played by the band on board Titanic. Can you find out any information about the musicians?

Journaling Prompt – The colour blue

Mindfulness – Pause throughout the day and think about what you’re thankful for. You could record these ideas by writing them down, drawing them, telling someone or creating a piece of journaling.

Thought of the Week – Would you rather have one eye in the middle of your head or two noses?

Thank you God for all that grows,

Thank you for all the sky’s rainbows,

Thank you for the stars that shine,

Thank you for these friends of mine,

Thank you for the moon and sun,

Thank you God for all you’ve done!
