Good Morning Caterpillars and Happy Monday!
Here is the new weekly update. I was so impressed by all of your wonderful learning last week and I can't wait to see what you get up to this week. If you require your child's phonics bug log-in please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
I found this story which is great at explaining the current situation to children. It may help answer any questions they have at this difficult time.
If you have any questions please do send me an email and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
Have a lovely week and take care,
Design a penguin mask. You can use this template or create your own.
Create a healthy eating poster. Can you name any healthy foods? Why should we eat a balanced diet?
Healthy eating is very important so we can grow big and strong. Make a healthy fruit smoothie. You can use my video or create your own one. Once made, can you pour half a glass of smoothie? What unit of measurement do we use to measure liquid?
Watch this live stream of penguins in Edinburgh Zoo. Can you imagine what it is like to be a penguin? What would you do if you were a penguin for a day? You can also watch other animals on this website such as tigers, pandas and kolas.
Play Penguin Maths Party using the resources below. Remember to take you time when counting and touch each penguin as you count. Can you write the number sentence you have created. For example 3+3=6?
Superstar challenge: Can you take way any penguins from the party? Write down these number sentences too. For example 3-2=1.
Draw and label a penguin. You can use the penguin below or draw your own one. Remember to include: beak, feathers, tail and flippers.
Complete the penguin dot to dots. Say each number/letter as you draw. Can you count forwards and backwards?
Ask a grown up if you can have an egg and spoon race. If you cannot use real eggs (I know they are like gold dust at the moment) you could use a tennis/bouncy ball. Can you time your race? Who came first and who came second?
Superstar challenge: Can you complete the race with the spoon in your mouth?
Listen to me read a new story. What did you like about the story? Is there anything you didn't like? What was your favourite part and why?
Create a toilet roll penguin! Make sure you follow the instructions carefully.
Watch the video below to find out a little bit more about penguins. What are these penguins called? Write down 3 facts that you found out.
Penguins have a special glands which produce oil and waxes, this covers the penguin's feathers. When penguin's feathers are covered with the oil and waxes their feathers become waterproof. This means the penguin can stay much warmer. Complete this science experiment below which demonstrates how oil can keep penguin's warm and dry.
I thank you for the gift of knowledge! I praise you that you provide us with brains to think and question the world around us. Thank you for all my talents and making me unique.
