An Exceptional Place to Flourish

Bonjour Badgers,

Today we will be focussing on learning two very important french verbs: avoir (which is the verb to have) and être (which is the verb to be). We have touched on these this year when er have been learning to describe people and animals, but I think it would be a good idea for us to investigate these further.

In French the way we say the verb depends on who or what is the subject of the verb. This can be seen as similar to the way we change the verb to be in English: I am, you are, he/she is, we are, they are (although in French it is a bit more complicated as each subject has a different form of the verb.

Learning the different ways to say the verb is known as conjugating and this is what we will be learning to do today.

Alexa will show you how to conjugate avoir and être in her video below.

Now you have learnt how to conjugate these two verbs, please complete the worksheets below (if you can't print them out, just write the sentences out on paper).
Now I would like you to practice and consolidate your learning of these two verbs by paying the games below with someone in your household (y0u may need to teach them how to say the verbs first, or print out the poster I have attached for them to use!)
If you would like to do some further work on the two verbs, I have attached some more activities below.
