The chapter you have just listened to is similar to the scene of Aslan's death in the book and film 'The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe', which you might have seen. I have attached a YouTube clip below which you could watch to help picture the scene.
Activity 1 - Use the video of Chapter 31 and the extract below to compare the two. Think about the use of language, how the two heroes maintain their dignity against the jeering mob and the use of animals and children as characters.
How do we know the hero in the image below is Aslan from 'The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe'? What has the illustrator done to draw our attention to him despite the chaos of the surrounding mob? What impact does the composition have on our understanding of the power dynamic between characters?
Activity 2 - Create your own illustration of the mob scene in The Last Wild.
