Discussion- listening to a story and writing new facts.

 

Today we will be listening to our new Power of Reading Book

‘The Emperor’s Egg’.

Look at the picture of the front cover and answer these questions;

 

Look at the picture of the front cover and answer these questions;

What do you think the book is going to be about?

What type of book do you think it is?

Where do you think the book is set?

What clues are there?

Who is ‘The Emperor’?

What does the title mean? 

What do you already know about penguins?

 

Tell the children that the place they have been looking at recently is where the story is set; Antarctica.

 

Discuss any prior knowledge they have learnt about this place and if you can, locate it on a globe/world map. ·

 

Now listen to the story;
